If Superintendent was not following Board directions for months (or I would say years) why Board allowed him to stay for another year? Don’t we care about our kids? I do not see any reason to celebrate. Another year will be wasted.

Excellent question! Four board members, Lisa Houk, Beth Tegtmeier, Mark Mirabile and Doug Gilman wanted to keep Mark on. This was a vote in open session though not on the video tape. We encourage everyone to watch the board meeting video tapes online to understand more about what transpired over the last several months. Keep in mind, what you are seeing on tape is a very small portion of the problem. Months and months of closed session discussions also took place that the general public is not privy to.

The district is hiring a new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to do the job Mark Fredisdorf should be doing. It is a shame that the district has to shell out an additional approximately $150,000 in addition to Mark's annual salary.

Feel free to contact the four individuals above if you are not happy with another year gone to waste. They are solely responsible.

In addition to Mark’s over $250,000 salary? This is ridiculous!! I saw a snippet on the CBS news the other night regarding consolidating school districts to reduce the outrageous administrative costs (most noted were Superintendent salaries). Has there been any discussion regarding the same at D107?

No one has mentioned anything about consolidation in D107 that we have heard of. It is actually a pretty good idea though as two or three smaller districts would be able to pool resources, etc. thus saving millions of dollars each year.
