The Exodus Continues

Teachers at the middle school continue to leave. Goodbye and good luck to middle school teachers Mrs. Reed (6th grade language arts), Mr. Chehade (7th grade math), and Ms. Cannon (Social Worker). The number of teachers that have left the middle school this year is now up to seven. Let's hope this is the end of the exodus.

TIME TO BE VERY CONCERNED! Illinois General Assemble passed the "Video Gaming Act" that allows video gaming in establishments with liquor licenses - ALL ACROSS THE STATE! Willow Springs has had an ordinance on its books since 1964 prohibiting gaming of any kind. There are people who want to bring this vile form of "ENTERTAINMENT" to our small village. Gambling has gotten out of control! Every public official thinks that it is a cure for financial woes - when in fact it causes many other problems. Contact your local officials, go to the board meetings and think about the effect this could have. Countryside, Indianhead Park and Hodgkins are considering it also.

The sidewalk project is finally starting to materialize. But did you know that someone wants to put a 3 acre - 6 to 8 horse farm in the backyards of everyone on the east side of school street? Yep, let's just have flies, manure, livestock and odors in a residential neighborhood, and close to the school. Livestock restrictions were put in place to prevent this from happening. Contact your local officials and attend board meetings so variances and changes to ordinances can't take place.

Thanks so much for keeping the community abreast of the "mass exodus" at Pleasantdale. It is ironic that the administration tries to justify to parents the reasons teachers are leaving Pleasantdale. First or second year teachers are not going to leave a new job to start all over in another district unless their present work environment is not good. Look at the pay scales of other districts online and you will see that they are not leaving for more money. A better working environment? Yes. More money? No. Staying home to raise a family? Not in this economy. All the administration needs to do is look in the mirror to see why teachers at Pleasantdale are leaving.

It's better than more buildings. I welcome more open land.

Thanks for this info, this is how I find out what is going on. That is alot of teachers. Imagine how it must be to work in that manner with administration that really does not care about you. You never see those people leave school. Well all I can say is this is an election year and lets get new faces on the board and get rid of the ones that are causing the problem. Lets keep the teachers that have the passion to teach our children, lets make it a great place for them to come to work.
