Congratulations to the Village of Willow Springs for receiving grant money to be used for their parks from the Township of Lyons.
Willow Springs was awarded $367,360. Lets hope the cash strapped village uses the bond money for the projects it was intended for.
We have received confirmation that Pleasant Dale Park District has not been awarded any money as of yet. We will be following this and let you know if and when Pleasant Dale Park receives any money and what it is to be used for when we find out.

If the Pleasant Dale Park District does receive the Bond Funds, everyone needs to thank the former Director, Rosalyn Wendt-Epting, for all of her efforts in the presentation for those funds. Even though she is not here, she is still showing the impact she had on this District. Thank you Rosalyn for everything you did to help get these funds, if we do receive them. The three stooges and their puppet director have made us broke. I'm glad to see Rosalyn picked up the pieces again! Watch them take credit for something they have nothing to do with. Typical actions for a board with no ethics what so ever.
We need to get in there and demand the petition for the funds and what it is supposed to be used for and ensure that it is used for those intended purposes. Get ahead of the band wagon and demand a copy of the proposal, plan and receipts of the distributions, expenditures, etc. Many grant monies get put into the general fund population and spent on other than intended items. Just ask Willow Springs what they found, or better yet didn't find.....

I am so glad that someone obviously affiliated with a park employee or board member has commented on here. I am referring to the post left on February 17 at 5:52 p.m. Your ignorance, immaturity, low self respect and lack of integrity are truly reflected in your post and will show newcomers on the blog what others have been witnessing for the past several months. I have a hint the next time you post: you may want to take the educated and respectful route - it is more effective. Also I would not make assumptions as to who is posting on this blog, there may be more people upset than you think. One last thing - it is a FOIA, not a FOA.
Let's set the record straight. A few residents did in fact submit a Freedom of Information Act request in an effort to make sense of the park district's spending.
Time and again these residents asked for a list of expenses in regard to the Chalet renovation and it was never provided. When asked about renovation expenses at the October meeting, Joe Jura, the park district's contracted project manager stated, "I don't keep track of money, I just spend it."
At the December board meeting, after being asked for the figures once again, commissioner Colleen Pettrone told the residents that if they wanted that information, they would have to request it by way of the FOI Act. So that is what these residents did.
The park district didn't spend "so much $$$" on the records request because the residents that made the request PAID for it themselves. The residents didn't have to pay for it, because the Attorney General's office found that the park district was in violation of the Act, but since it will take 60-90 days to review the timelines, one of the residents went in and PAID for the documents himself to expedite the process.
People are not "terrible residents" because they are asking for accountability for their tax dollars. The "terrible residents" are people like you who sit back and do nothing while allowing this "pathetic" park board to break laws and spend frivolously on perks for their family members and friends.
