Supporter?

A supporter of the incumbents is on a roll. This person has taken great pleasure in commenting on our blog (8 times) last evening and several times today, but is afraid to sign their name.

If this supporter is so proud of the incumbents' accomplishments, why won't they sign their name?

This person spent quite a while reading the teacher surveys and then commented, "It is much easier to focus on the school as a whole when your child does not attend that school."

Obviously, there hasn't been much focus while their children were attending if you look at our archaic technology program, outdated math books, money losing preschool/extended day program, communication mishaps, the unnecessary expenditures and our teacher surveys.

Will it only get worse when the incumbents children are gone and they are not in touch with our schools on a daily basis?

I've been reading this blog for weeks and 90% of the entries are signed "Anonymous". Now, when someone doesn't necessarily agree with what you have to say, signing "Anonymous" becomes an issue. The name of this blog does not reflect it's true spirit. "I don't get it".

Dear Candidates,
My name is Dina Stone and I owe you an apology. I think you are speaking of some of my comments, as I was on the blogspot the night before last. As I read back, they definately have a tone of negativity and harshness. I can guarantee you that when I was writting them, I was not feeling any animosity towards the candidates. Many people in this school district know me. Karen knows me. I am a silly, fun, and kind hearted person. Please don't read my comments as mean intending. Try to look at them as matter of fact and maybe at times a bit sarcastic. What I was feeling at the time was due to the blog in general. The accumulation of all of the (negative towards the other group of candidates)comments, which I know is the main purpose of a blog, made me think of a bunch of whiny kids, thus my "Stop moaning and groanig statement." The comments about the newsletter were a bit disturbing because I have been around since the district began communicating by this means and every newsletter has the same format, thus my comment about the newsletter.
No, I have never been on the School Board but I have been on the PTA Executive Board. Over the last 11 years, I have been extremely involved in the school. I have spent countless hours at PTA and School Board meetings and in both schools over the years. The teachers know me. The administrators know me well as I have taken on many challenges over the years. I feel that a School Board member must always have the big picture in mind, not individual issues. This is what I mean by personal agendas...the specific individual issues...fee increases, art, technology, open communication at Board Meetings. While these ideas are very commendable, again, a Board Member must always have the big picture in mind. I was in attendance at the Board Meeting when you presented your views in regards to the fee increases. I attended to voice my opinion about Ms. Mars. I am assuming that the fee increase was the initial issue fueling your fires to run for the Board. You were all very well spoken. It's hard to get up in front of them and receive no feedback (I have done it several times), but can you just imagine what a meeting would be like if you had several people stand up to talk for 5 minutes each and then discussion by everyone afterward...plus all the agenda items...yikes! Again, the big picture. There are ways to get answers, you just have to know the proper channels.
It is only my opinion that if three of you have been more active and had more experience within the school, I and others (by the looks of other comments on the blog) would react differently.
I hope everyone gets out to vote today and I wish everyone luck. If you are elected, please learn to keep that big picture in mind. You will have TONS of people calling you with their issues. If you are not elected, make sure you are involved in the PTA (like Karen) and you attend School Board meetings as well as Town Hall meetings. Make sure people know who you are. Be present. Introduce yourself and make comments...ask questions. People will then know you have history and dedication.
Please accept my apology for any tone of harshness (I realize I sounded negative). Sincerely, Dina

That's what my son said too. That's okay, I don't mind. My name was already out there. I should have just signed my name. It's always easier just to click on "anonymous." And I did need to apologize to these folks.
