We Say...

How generous of School District 107 board members Lisa Houk and Beth Tegtmeier to come up with the idea of waiving registration fees for the 2011 school year. This is nothing more than grandstanding prior to the April election where they are both running for re-election.
While Pleasantdale plays "investment banker" hoarding over 11 million dollars of taxpayer money, how about giving something back to ALL taxpayers that paid into this fund, rather than just the 500 families that attend the school? District 107 encompasses businesses, senior citizens, empty nesters and private school families too. Where is their waiver?

Pleasantdale outfitted every classroom with much needed interactive white boards on the backs of special education students. This board approved the use of IDEA money earmarked specifically for special education programs rather than dipping into their 11 million dollar fund balance. Special education was also shortchanged when the board of education eliminated the full time special ed. coordinator in the name of saving money. It’s no wonder Pleasantdale’s special education subgroup didn’t make AYP in reading on the ISAT in 2010, when all they get is the short end of the stick.

There is a lot more going on in District 107 than they are willing to share. Hopefully, the Doings editorial will open some eyes.

Who approved this??? If we want change we need to vote these people out... I was not aware of this information. Thanks so much for putting it out.
